Hi. I'm Gina.

Welcome to my blog.  This blog documents my journey to loving my body and anything else that comes my way.  Hope you have a nice stay!

Does our hair define us?

Does our hair define us?

Ok this is something that I've been battling lately.  First let me start off by saying anyone that really knows me, knows that I've literally had every hair style along with almost every color.  But recently I've been wanting to change my hairstyle up something new and fresh! Summer is coming and I wanted a whole new look.  With all this being said I couldn't believe the internal battle going on about this haircut.

Is it my age that's bothering me or now that I'm a mom.  In my head I kept thinking well I don't want to look like a cliche mom.  First of all that statement is ludicrous...you are a mom...so of course you will look like a mom you have a 2 year old...is someone really going to think shes your sister...hello I'm starting to sound insane.  Then I came to the realization and partly because of this journey, is that you can't live your life for those moments to come "oh when I'm skinnier I'll cut my hair short." "Right now your double chin is to large for a short haircut."

I think it's also part of this idea of beauty, that we as women are meant to have longer hair...it's part of our femininity, but is it?  Well can I just tell you that I feel so sexy with this shorter hair!! And lets be completely realistic if I absolutely came out of this hair cut hating it... Who cares its just hair and it will grow back. So any women contemplating cutting there hair or even dyeing it or doing something drastic to it....do it!! We only live once and we should live our lives without regret!!!

In the words of India Arie "I am not my hair".
